Are you interested in directly impacting the academic futures and creativity of McKenzie students? Don’t miss the unique opportunity to support them at Market Night on May 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Old Gym!
Students from Mr. Culp’s Entrepreneurship and Marketing class have teamed up to create products for sale. Each purchase benefits student scholarship funds for their collegiate endeavors. Using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap, Mr. Culp’s Web Design students have hand-coded individual websites for each business, creating a partnership between the Entrepreneurship and Marketing class.
Leading up to the event, we will spotlight student products available to purchase. Today, we are excited to feature Ecodrift, sustainable driftwood trees made by Will Meister!
We hope you will join us in celebrating our fantastic students and their futures! In the meantime, visit the Market Night website to learn more.

Did you know that according to the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments, 1 in 5 students between 12 and 18 are bullied every year?
In a heartwarming display of unity and teamwork, our first graders embraced the spirit of Classroom Curiosity. They joined forces with Mr. O’Hare and his students to construct a Buddy Bench for the playground.
This bench symbolizes the culmination of the first graders’ project on friendship, empathy, and skills to understand and stop bullying.
We are so proud of our Eagles and their commitment to ensuring our school is a kind and welcoming place for all students!

Meet Salomon Acevedo! During his time at McKenzie, Salomon played football and basketball and participated in track and field. He also built transitional houses for Eugene and Oakridge’s homeless citizens and was the Associated Student Body President (ASB).
After graduation, Salomon will attend Oregon State University, where he will study biology pre-med and kinesiology. He aspires to become an orthopedic sports medicine doctor.
Salomon’s advice to incoming students is to “Befriend everyone you can, play all the sports you’re physically capable of doing, and treat every teacher with kindness.” He also suggests keeping a digital or physical journal to document small activities and their dates. “Even if you think they are insignificant, they will mean something to you someday.”

🏃♂️🏃♀️ Get ready to lace up those sneakers and join us for our elementary jog-a-thon fundraiser!
When: Wednesday, May 22nd, during class PE time
Where: Old Gym
Who: Grades K-6
We're running to raise money for our Elementary Positive Behavior Motivation Funds! This supports class rewards, RIVER recognition prizes, and our Eagle's Nest prize stand. 🦅
Students have received pledge envelopes with all the jog-a-thon info and directions. They have until May 21st to collect pledges or donations from family and friends.
On May 22nd, we'll count the laps they run during their 30-minute PE window. The kids will then collect money and turn it in to their classroom teachers by June 3rd.
🍦 And here's the sweet incentive: If K-6 students collectively run 2,000+ laps, they'll earn an ice cream party!
As we approach the end of the school year, we are beyond excited to celebrate our senior class’s hard work and dedication through senior spotlights!
Meet Levi Lockard! During his time at McKenzie, Levi played football and basketball and participated in track and field. His favorite memory from McKenzie was being mistaken for a high schooler as a sixth grader.
After graduation, Levi plans to acquire a good job, save money, and eventually become a pyrotechnician.
Congratulations, Levi!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!
We are incredibly grateful for the individuals who make up our school community and for their passion for educating and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
