School Board Vacancy – Position 6 McKenzie School District is seeking a community member to fill Position 6 on the Board of Directors. 📚⚾ Sluggo’s Reading Challenge! ⚾📚 McKenzie students, it’s time to step up to the plate and hit a home run with your reading! The Home Run Reading Program, brought to us by the Eugene Emeralds, is in full swing! How It Works: Grab your Sluggo Reading Challenge bookmark and write down 10 books you’ve read. Once it's filled, turn it in by March 21st. All participating K-6th grade students will be invited to a special night at the ballpark on June 18th with the Eugene Emeralds! Let’s show Sluggo how much McKenzie loves to read!

Smokey Bear Visits Our Classrooms! Our 1st and 4th graders had a special visit from Smokey Bear and the Oregon Department of Forestry. Our first graders met Smokey in person and learned important fire safety tips and one of our fourth graders got to dress up in real firefighting gear. All of the students also got to learn about fire safety. We are lucky to have ODF offering this wonderful educational experience.

Celebrating Our Classified Employees! This week, we recognized and celebrated our incredible classified employees during Classified Employees Week! These dedicated individuals are the heart of our school, keeping everything running smoothly from the classroom to the cafeteria and the front office. Throughout the week, we found special ways to honor and thank them for their hard work and commitment to our students and school community. Classroom Curiosity - Our Weekly R.I.V.E.R. Awards 🌟 Did you know we focus on one of the values from our R.I.V.E.R. program each week. Teachers nominate students who have exemplified these behaviors, and at the end of the week, we randomly select a winner from the nominees!
